EMSL Canada, one of the largest environmental testing firms in North America, is currently seeking a Full Time **Laboratory Analyst **specializing in **Asbestos and Microbiology **analysis for its Vancouver, BC laboratory location. This position offers a very competitive pay rate for trained asbestos analysts from competitor laboratories and the chance to work for a stable company that is team oriented and offers growth opportunities within the organization.

No laboratory experience is necessary, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees Experienced Asbestos PLM analysts are welcomed to apply. Offering competitive pay.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Preparation and analysis of bulk asbestos samples using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy) and asbestos in air samples using PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy).
Preparation and analysis of environmental microbiology samples (spore traps and direct examination (tape lift, Bio tape, Bulk or Swab).
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
Receive environmental samples and log-in/data entry Chain of Custody into LIMS system and shipping and handling.
Greet and assist visitors, walk-in clients, answering high-volume of incoming phone calls.
Perform quality assurance and control practices and adhere to policies per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
Other laboratory and clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, scanning and copying.

**Requirements**:
Minimum requirement High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry background is a plus, but not required.
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petro-graphic microscope training a plus.
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus.
One to two years of asbestos PLM/PCM experience is a plus, but not required - will train.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.

**Available Shift**:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
