**About the role**:
As a QAP at Adastra, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and regulatory compliance within our innovative cannabis processing facility. This position is crucial in maintaining our commitment to excellence and high standards.
In this multifaceted role, you will oversee both quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) functions, ensuring compliance with Good Production Practices (GPP) and Cannabis Regulations. Your responsibilities will include managing the Quality System, conducting audits, and collaborating with various departments to ensure product quality and safety.
**Duties and responsibilities (include and are not limited to)**:
Quality Assurance
- Oversees both quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) pertaining to the business, production, facility, security, storage, packaging, labeling and Good Production Practices (GPP) for Cannabis Regulations.
- Ensure and enforce good documentation practices on all applicable documents relating to GPP.
- Responsible for ensuring GPP compliance and management of the Quality System, including but not limited to change controls, deviations, incidents, recalls, returns and customer complaints.
- Communicate and summarize compliance performance and results (e.g. highlight self-inspection issues, out of specification and/or out of trend results, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with regulations through auditing the quality systems.
- Support the continuous improvement of finished products through reinforcement of product quality, food safety programs, and sanitation programs.
- Collaborate with the Head of Security regarding the oversight of the security systems.
- Actively develop, update, approve, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Quality Manuals.
- Oversee Production, Quality, and Health & safety equipment including equipment qualification, validation, vendor qualification, and maintenance.
- Investigate product non-conformances, conduct material reviews for complaints, and document findings and responses.
- Manage product holds, reprocessing actions, and final disposition processes for non-complaint resources.
- Review all Certificates of Analysis from third-party laboratories, release and reject Product Lots accordingly, and document all conclusions and follow-up actions.
- Manage audit and information request from Health Canada pertaining to QA and QC in a timely manner, ensuring observations are addressed and closed within a reasonable timeframe.
- Responsible for training employees on GPP related topics.
- Plan, execute, and maintain employee training records as well as testing to ensure training effectiveness.
- Responsible for the immediate investigation of Cannabis or any other input materials that are suspected to present a risk of injury to human health or if the applicable requirements of Part 5 or 6 of the Cannabis Act and regulations are not being met and immediately take measures to mitigate any risk.
- Responsible for approving the preventive control plan for activities conducted with Cannabis.
- Management of pest control and pesticide testing.
- Quality control relating to the movement, storage, and distribution of Cannabis.
- Handle adverse reaction reports, recalls, and perform annual mock recalls as required by Health Canada.
- Meet goals set by the company to support business needs.
Health & Safety
- Responsible for providing health and safety leadership within the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and to all levels of staff.
- Support and advise the management team, employees, and applicable contractors.
- Implement health and safety management systems and other current standards and legislation.
- Deliver and maintain a health and safety program across the organization as well as ensuring the timely delivery of associated with the health and safety management action plans and operational programs.
- Participate in all WorkSafeBC inspections and design an action plan to resolve any observations.
