- Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Process Operator in Toronto (West Hill), ON.
- About You:

- You can operate assigned equipment or areas of the Plant. Performs and reports on operational related activities per the Operations Dashboard (OPD)-Tasks List. Utilizes discretionary time to enable sustainable performance results for the facility. Utilizes operations knowledge and experience, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable and optimal manner. Works with Shift Team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles. May provide training to less experienced operators. Requires established basic technical skills to perform a range of routine work activities using existing processes and methods. Note: Operator Progression is managed at the site level. The Blend Tank Operator is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient manufacture of acrylic emulsions using a batch process. Primary activities include obtaining raw materials, transferring materials, following standard operating procedures, and operating a computerized control system to manufacture products. Blend Tank Operators will be trained on most tasks in both production areas to support production in both areas as needed.

- Follows Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
- Writes and reviews procedures and checklists.
- Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment and control systems and makes appropriate decisions to achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Site/Business goals.
- Works with shift team members and others to leverage skills and knowledge to balance workload ensuring assigned tasks are completed by due dates.
- Conducts effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team.
- Mentors and trains new and existing operations personnel on process operation, troubleshooting and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process.
- Performs Immediate Response activities, as assigned.
- Documents preliminary investigations according to plant specific process/criteria and participates in formal and informal Root Cause Investigations.
- Tracks and utilizes plant key performance metrics that are applicable to the Operating Plant role to identify improvements opportunities.
- Obtain raw materials to be used in the production process.
- Weigh raw materials.
- Add and transfer raw materials to process vessels, both manually and via computer
- operated control systems.
- Prepare chemical solutions and additions.
- Interact with process computers and associated instrumentation to monitor batch operations and operate process equipment. Maintain control over the batch process at all times ensuring strict adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Readily identify abnormal batch situations and take appropriate action.
- Conduct in-process sampling.
- Make in-process chemical adjustments to the product.
- Filter and transfer products to storage.
- Recycle process white water.
- Complete production records and paperwork.
- Maintain cleanliness of the area through excellent housekeeping practices.
