The Health, Safety and Environment Manager responsible for representing the Company as the primary safety ambassador, developing and implementing organizational safety programs, ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and Barclay Constructors’ H&S policies and procedures

**Key Responsibilities **include but are not limited to:

- Promote leadership, continuous improvement, compliance and implementation of corporate Health and Safety (H&S) programs, practices, including Job Hazard Analysis and operating procedures.
- Advise Senior Leadership on changes to regulations and codes, as well as emerging H&S trends and impacts to operations.
- Perform H&S and compliance inspections/audits and identify corrective actions where needed, ensuring timely implementation and documentation.
- Act as primary business liaison with the Ministry of Labour and related regulatory agencies.
- Maintain employee training records, including injury records, actions and compliance.
- Oversee the administration and case management of Workers’ Compensation claims, including Return to Work plans, working in collaboration with Human Resources, as needed.
- Active leader in facilitating JHSC Meetings as a certified management member and committee chair.
- Assess training requirements and conduct safety training as required; assess and evaluate third party training providers ensuring effectiveness in delivery and cost.
- Evaluate Project Specific H&S Plans ensuring they are current and communicated to all project personnel.
- Audit and monitor sub trade safety performance (sub trade safe work practices and job hazard analysis) and programs to ensure compliance with local legislation.
- Perform H&S work site inspections and submit to the project management team; perform incident investigations.
- Assist in the development, rollout and execution of annual metrics/improvement targets.
- Participate in the review of new operations, processes and procedures (as well as proposed changes to existing operations) at the proposal and/or design phase to ensure health & safety and compliance matters are considered and incorporated
- **Educational and Professional Requirements**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related OHS discipline
- 3-5 years in H&S management position; construction H&S industry strongly preferred.
- COR certification and designation maintenance experience required
- CRSP or similar designation is an asset; Gold Seal Certification required
- In-depth knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations
- You possess a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance policy

**Working Conditions**
- Travel to and working on project construction sites as required with exposure to construction environment
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Overtime as required.
- Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required.
