Custodian/janitor

**Summary**

Performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms in assigned area including but not limited to classrooms, corridors, stairways, bathrooms, storerooms and other similar areas.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies;
- Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into dumpster, and bags trash for proper disposal;
- Cleans and disinfects sanitary fixtures, including toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, water fountains, etc. in their assigned area;
- Washes trash disposal receptacles as needed;
- Remove scuff marks on the floors and walls;
- Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels;
- May assist or perform grass cutting, snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
- Performs major summer cleaning functions, including but not limited to: window cleaning inside and out, classroom and hallways wall washing, lockers and furniture cleaning, buffing, stripping and waxing of various floor surfaces;
- Responsible to report timely to the building maintenance supervisor any irregularities, equipment malfunctions, necessary repairs, damages, and other.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement, workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Assists with external and internal deliveries, including set-ups and take-downs as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

**Job Requirements**

- Ability to operate power equipment including but not limited to vacuums, carpet wet vacuums, buffing and other floor related maintenance equipment.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

**Working Conditions and Physical Effort**
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

**Looking for**:

- 1 full time position, location 1750 Rue Deguire, Saint Laurent, H4L1M7, 40 hrs/week, work schedule: 14:00 to 22:30.
- 1 part-time position, location 2355 Rue Decelles, Saint Laurent, H4M 1C2, 20 hrs/week, work schedule: 15:00 to 19:00.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
