Automation and Intralogistics Equipment Purchaser

Who you are
Your knowledge and experiences have given you a very good understanding of the logistics equipment industry in North America, the suppliers on the market and the solutions created to support fulfilling customer orders.
You have a commercial disposition and yet are detail oriented as you will work within a tendering purchase process and electronic purchasing system. As a Purchaser for Ingka (IKEA parent company), you will act as an ambassador of our company and conduct yourself in a fair and professional way.
You are autonomous and are self-driven. You are open to challenges, changes and always look for new possibilities to develop the ways of working. Your are a great communicator and you like interacting and building trustworthy relations with people inside and outside of IKEA.
- Have a minimum 5 years of purchasing experience
- Experience with logistics equipment, especially with integrated solutions in a warehouse environment and packaging materials
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering or equivalent knowledge
- Have project management and problem-solving skills as demonstrated by experience and tangible accomplishments
- Feel comfortable in navigating in a complex stakeholder map
- Knowledgeable in contract management
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
What you'll be doing day to day
Can you see yourself in a role where you are leading the procurement agenda for IKEA within the logistics equipment area for North America?
IKEA is on a journey to truly become a multi-channel retailer and in the coming years many of the customer fulfillment units will be built or rebuilt to accommodate to this new multi-channel environment.
As a purchaser you have primarily the responsibility for the business within US and Canada for a select number of product areas and suppliers, with the possibility to scale up solutions created by the supplier base you manage to become global. In this position you have the opportunity to influence and make a difference for an important part of IKEA, as we are designing the fulfillment units of tomorrow. You will be responsible for developing the business, taking away cost from the value chain, whilst securing products and services with high quality, sustainability and compliance standards.
Your competence and experience come from the logistics industry - industry knowledge on different types of handling material, automated equipment, as well as knowledge of packaging material and equipment. You are hungry for business development and have a proven track record in creating and materializing business opportunities. You understand the logistics and feel comfortable with contract management.
You have the ability to work with innovation considering that the world of automation in logistics equipment is and will be in constant change and we need to bring in innovation from the industry.
