Petroleum Manager

**The Position**
The Petroleum Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the Petroleum Division. The Petroleum Manager is responsible for achieving fuel division goals through the efficient execution of all fuel programs in compliance with corporate and regulatory (TSSA-MOE) guidelines.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the department: staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
- Plans and develops systems and procedures to improve the operations and efficiency of the department.
- Participate in the development of new or expansion of existing business opportunities.
- Play a leadership role in the development of proposals.
- Visit customers in order to negotiate price offers and to market and sell products. Also may accompany the Sales Manager on customer visits.
- Ensure that debts are collected promptly and are kept to a minimum, monitor customer accounts, and identify related problems.
- Generates a bi-weekly/daily price list for fuel that applies to the following week
- Responsible for managing purchasing, maintaining inventories and delivery of product to other locations.
- Responsible for the maintenance and design of fuel facilities
- Develops and manages the contract and purchasing processes and procedures and ensures that they meet timelines and cost objectives.
- Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operational problems. (ie product mixes)
- Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments, employee training, employee vacations, overtime, back-up for absent employees.
- Schedule and conduct department meetings.
- Other duties as assigned
- Load Trucks at loading rack as required
**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar function
- Computer proficiency and software skills (Navision, Word, Excel, Outlook, Phoenix, Digital Dispatch)
- Good understanding of the fuel market and fuel products and practices
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and staff
- Training in Emergency Spill Response and Safety & Compliance would be an asset
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret performance and market trend information. Proven ability to motivate and lead the fuel team
**Working Conditions**
Working conditions are conducive of a typical office environment - must be comfortable sitting at a desk for extended period of time, using keyboard, phone and copier/scanner. Fuel Manager may spend time travelling between Sarjeant offices or customer offices or job sites. Occasional overtime, evening or weekend work may be necessary from time to time for special projects or fuel related events. Travelling is required from time to time with short notice.
**Physical requirements**
Physical requirements are conducive with a typical office environment. Outdoor work is required on an ongoing basis when visiting Sarjeant offices and/or job sites.
