**Your opportunity**:
The Center for Entrepreneurship in the Faculty of Arts & Science works collaboratively to serve undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and alumni, across six areas of activity: research; academic courses; co-curricular programming; new venture creation, growth and scaling; and community engagement. In 2023, the Centre for Entrepreneurship will move into its new space which includes five prototyping labs, on the 6th floor of the Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus, West Tower.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Prototyping Lab Lead will be responsible for the oversight and management of various prototyping labs. The labs will be utilized by members of the broader Arts & Science including students and alumni who are seeking the tools and resources to initiate and develop competitive, sustainable companies.

The Prototyping Lab lead will play a pivotal role in cultivating a culture of entrepreneurship which will ultimately contribute to U of T’s status as a globally renown leader in research and innovation.

The incumbent will be dually responsible for space, resource, and equipment management as well as students and alumni on their use as it relates to their prototyping goals.

The Prototyping Lab Lead will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of records, procedural manuals, and training content for lab and equipment use, as well as for troubleshooting and resolving issues with lab equipment, workstations, and those technical in nature either directly or through coordination with appropriate service providers.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Coordinating the use of lab space for five (5) prototyping labs to ensure smooth operation of facility
- Creating and maintaining instructional materials, operating procedures manual for lab users, maintenance and repair manuals
- Providing orientation to others on lab equipment, working procedures and practices
- Supporting lab users by reviewing and assessing their needs/requirements to meet project timelines
- Making recommendations to lab users on modifications to experimental processes and implementing more efficient ways to conduct experiments
- Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures to lab users
- and/or employees on lab techniques, experimental procedures, and protocols
- Reviewing, assessing, and managing laboratory space and equipment for lab users
- Training users on the operation of instrumentation and experimental protocol
- Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables, and reporting
- Fostering positive relationships with stakeholders
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with lab equipment, workstations, and those technical in nature
- Coordinating installation, implementation, maintenance, and servicing for laboratory equipment, technologies, and software
- Liaising with various stakeholders to foster collaboration
- Keeping well-informed on current technologies, best practices, and industry standards
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
- Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects
- Liaising with lab users and faculty to coordinate program activities

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Master's Degree preferably in Science, Engineering or other related fields such as Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum five years of recent and related experience, preferably in a university setting
- Experience in commercializing product
- At least 2+ years (post-degree) experience developing methods with scientific equipment and management of laboratories
- Additional certifications such as in laboratory safety and management
- Undergraduate research experience and/or teaching experience is an asset
