**Description**:

- Multiple exercise activities, including: joint check/warm-up, range of motion/stretching, strengthening, cardiovascular endurance, and joint check/cool down.
- Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program also includes balance and coordination activities.
- Each class also includes a health education component from the program formally known as PACE - People with Arthritis Can Exercise.
- Each class also has relaxation and breathing activities.
- Instructors have the option to include: weight-bearing, posture/body mechanics, body awareness, and socialization activities.

**Nature & Scope**:

- The Group Fitness Instructor - Fun and Fitness designs, modifies, and instructs safe, effective and appropriate arthritis exercise fitness programs to meet the needs of members, community and special populations in a group fitness setting.
- The Group Fitness Instructor - Fun and Fitness ensures that class participants understand benefits of exercise and feel comfortable with the fitness program.
- The Group Fitness Instructor - Fun and Fitness performs work according to CSVAC values, objectives, policies, and health & safety and risk management programs.

**Key Requirements**:

- Fitness instructors with proof of registration in Personal training or Group Fitness certification.
- Familiarity with and adherence to Provincial and Federal directives and regulations.
- Valid CPR certification.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct fitness classes twice a week.
- To engage, motivate and lead individuals in a group fitness class setting safely
- To plan, organize and implement lesson plans
- To demonstrate a commitment to safety in program delivery in alignment with
- To ensure excellent customer service is provided
- Model appropriate behaviours in line with CSVAC Mission, Vision and Values.
- Represent CSVAC in a professional manner.
- Develop and maintain professional and courteous relationships with members and participants
- Knowledge of fitness programs to improve Arthritis.
- Educate participants on proper fitness techniques and movements.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols.
- Ensure compliance with Provincial and Federal directives and regulations governing fitness instruction.
- Collaborate with other fitness and healthcare professionals as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- High school graduation/diploma
- Fitness instructors with proof of registration in Personal training or Group Fitness certification.
- Experience as a fitness instructor with group fitness classes is an asset.
- Experience and/or training in multiple fitness formats is an asset.
- Familiarity with and adherence to Provincial and Federal directives and regulations governing fitness instruction.
- Valid CPR/AED certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and compassion for class participants.
- Ability to work independently and manage a small business.
