We are currently recruiting for the full-time, permanent position of **First Nation Energy Advisor.**

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

Working directly with First Nation communities, and supported by a multi-disciplinary team, this position will provide technical guidance and support to promote participation in Efficiency Manitoba's Indigenous energy efficiency programs for both residential and commercial buildings. This position will also establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous groups, while providing excellent customer service and team contributions towards the achievement of Efficiency Manitoba's targeted goals and path to reconciliation.

The current program assignment for this position includes the First Nation Insulation and Direct Install Program, the Indigenous Community Energy Efficiency Plan programs, and the First Nation stream of the Indigenous Small Business program. However, to meet the evolving needs of Efficiency Manitoba and our customers, responsibilities may change to include other programs and assignments over time.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work collaboratively with First Nation communities to identify residential and commercial energy efficiency opportunities in the community and develop implementation plans that will result in energy savings
- Facilitate the delivery of the First Nation Insulation and Direct Install Program, the Indigenous Community Energy Efficiency Program, and the First Nation stream of the Indigenous Small Business Program.
- Provide guidance in the context of energy efficiency within the Indigenous customer segment with respect to materials and systems such as: insulation, air sealing, heating, hot water and ventilation equipment and associated controls, and appliances.
- Develop and maintain external and internal customer and relationships.
- Provide savings calculations and technical data for energy efficiency technologies, considering the "house as a system" and corresponding interactive effects between technologies.
- Work with other program delivery staff to continuously review energy efficiency offers and ensure they are equitable and accessible to First Nation communities.
- Required to visit First Nation Communities which will result in travel, potential overnight stays, and a need to work outside of regular working hours.
- Facilitate and/or deliver energy efficiency training workshops in First Nation communities.
- Develop and maintain a quality control system to monitor program delivery effectiveness.
- Conduct and document findings from pre and post audits of buildings to ensure work meets Efficiency Manitoba program guidelines.
- Respond to customer, contractor, and third-party inquiries as they relate to technical issues.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- A diploma or similarly appropriate formal training from a recognized college in the field of Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or Mechanical Engineering Technology with minimum of four (4) years related experience.

OR
- Red Seal Endorsement in Carpentry with a minimum of four (4) years experience with a minimum of two (2) years working in a field related to energy efficiency.

OR
- Successful completion of the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Foundation Level and Energy Advisor (House) Exams is a definite asset.
- As a condition of employment, successful applicants will be required to obtain a passing grade in the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Foundation Level and Energy Advisor (House) Exams within a period of six months following commencement of employment.

- An equivalent combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related building energy efficiency experience.
- A general understanding and interest in component and building energy.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability in working collaboratively with Indigenous people and leadership within First Nation communities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience in writing reports, and preparing and delivering internal and external presentations.
- Must be creative, self-motivated, and capable of achieving broadly defined objectives.
- Ability to travel throughout Manitoba.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver results in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Must have a valid Manitoba Driver's license.
