**This position is located onsite daily at our Mississauga plant facility.**

The Production Associate will operate the furnce in a safe and efficient manner while production the highest quality product; this includes tapping, plugging as well as operating Wellwalkers and keep the furnace area clean and organized.

**Core Accountabilities**
- Ensure only the correct raw material is loaded into the furnace for the production of the highest quality product at the lowest cost
- Operate the Wellwalker in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensure raw material is worked into bath and metal is kept in a continuous motion
- Change chlorine tanks when required; in a safe manner
- Add soda ash to furnace when required
- Tap and Plug furnace. Check tap holes after plugging to assure tight seal
- Read and understand all furnace controls and know their effect on the finished product and production schedule
- Maintain and clean Pump Well
- Keep the furnace area floor clean and adhere to good housekeeping practices
- Must be dependable and demonstrate strong ethics in attendance and punctuality
- Must be able to follow instructions and at the same time accept responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the furnace
- Must be able to work without direct supervision
- Must be competent in ability to pour approx.8 pots per shift
- Ensure the safety of plant personnel through compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and maintain the attitude that all accidents are preventable.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Valid lift truck license
- Able to pass and understand WHMIS
- Must be proficient in scrap identification

**Physical Demands**
- Visual demands include inspection of scrap for iron and moisture
- Overtime may be expected
- Must be able to climb into and dismount from furnace room equipment without aid or inordinate equipment
- Must be able to wear steel reinforced safety boots, hard hat and safety glasses with side shields at all times while performing duties
- Must be able to operate Forklifts safely.
