**Job Summary**:
We are currently seeking a Child and Family Support Services Director to join Waterhen Lake First Nation in supporting the readiness to exercise our nations jurisdiction over Child and Family Services (CFS), and responsible for supporting the development and delivery of responsive Child and Family Service - Programs and Services. The position will be responsible for supervision of the Waterhen Lake First Nation - CFS Prevention, Bill C-92, Agreement-In-Principle program staff, leadership and coordination of prevention services and program activity outcomes. The Child & Family Support Services Director will lead and monitor the administration of program operations, development, and delivery of the Prevention, Bill C-92, Agreement-in-Principle programs and services offered offer through Waterhen Lake First Nation. The position will report to the WLFN CFS Project Manager and/or WLFN Leadership. Additional responsibilities will be provided as advised by the WLFN CFS Project Manager, WLFN Leadership, and the WLFN Child Welfare Committee.

**Responsibilities**:
**Technical**:

- Participate in the preparation of budgets, work plans, and program service agreements for WLFN Child & Family Services.
- Monitor and assist in the development, delivery, and evaluations of community engagement sessions, programs, services, and workshops when required in consultation with Project Coordinator.
- Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of Child & Family programs and services, inclusive of Child and Youth Program, Parenting Supports, Preventative Supports and Early Interventions, Community Wellbeing, and Cultural Support.
- Monitor CFS program staff performance, recommending appropriate and specific training to improve services delivery and administrative skills as required.
- Prepare and present concise and consistent program reports and updates to WLFN Leadership, WLFN Child Welfare Committee, and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).

**Leadership**
- Role modeling effective leadership as the Supervisor to the highest standard of service delivery consistent with Waterhen Lake First Nations - Child & Family Services principles and policies within First Nations Child and Family Services.
- Providing direction, leadership, assistance, support and ongoing feedback to Prevention program staff in the delivery of their roles and responsibilities.
- Facilitating WLFN Family Services staff development to ensure an effective, cohesive team of individuals who work together in committing to improve the overall quality of life for members of Waterhen Lake First Nation.
- Facilitating inclusive team approaches to resolve conflicts, issues or problems that may arise in the process of program and service delivery.
- Orientating new staff to the Waterhen Lake First Nation - Family Services team and ensuring compliance with the national principles and minimum standards set in the An _Act respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Metis children, youth and families. _
- Ensuring the Prevention Services team support early intervention and alternatives such as, traditional kinship care and enhanced land-based prevention programs within Waterhen Lake First Nation.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with Prevention Services policies and practices as designated by Indigenous Services Canada.

**Administration**
- Develop appropriate job descriptions and eligibility requirements for Child & Family Services team.
- Approve recruitment /information packages and continuously advertise through all possible media (radio, newspaper, flyers, poster, etc.).
- Assist in the establishment of interagency working relationships in respect to the delivery of community support services to members.
- Monitor the work of the Programs and Services team and recommending operational policy, program and job description changes and staffing actions to the Project Manager and participating in staffing actions for the Child & Family Services team.
- Monitoring and approving staff timesheets, weekly itineraries, accounts payable, travel claims and all monthly reports.
- Reviewing, recommending and monitoring the unit expenditures (travel claims, supplies, requisitions, etc.
- Monitoring expenditures against the budget and advising the Band Manager with respect to any current year deviations from expenditure plan as well as coming year projected budget requirements.
- Complete staff performance appraisal process inclusive of yearly evaluations.

**Knowledge and Experience**:

- University Degree or higher in a related field such as Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, or related field (required).
- Ability to register and/or are registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (required).
