About BDC Deep Tech Venture Fund

BDC’s Deep Tech Venture Fund invests in Canadian startups commercializing advanced technology innovations with the potential to transform global industries. Key technology sectors of interest include quantum, photonics, robotics, semiconductors, and AI.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is ideal for students passionate about disruptive technologies and emerging technologies, and the venture capital ecosystem. In this role, the student will build perspectives on different areas of potential investment and collaborate closely with members of the Deep Tech Venture Fund to refine their theses. The role will provide excellent exposure to the world of high growth companies, cutting edge Canadian technology, and startup investing.

**Responsibilities**:
Your primary responsibilities will involve in-depth research and analysis:
Market Research:
- Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, industry disruptions, and investment opportunities.- Analyze market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and growth potential in specific sectors.- Stay up-to-date with technological advancements and their impact on various industries.

Due Diligence:
- Assist in due diligence processes for potential investments.- Collaborate with investment professionals to assess risks and potential returns.

Sector Analysis:
- Dive deep into specific sectors (e.g., robotics, semiconductors, AI) to understand market dynamics, key players, and investment potential.- Identify promising startups and disruptive technologies within these sectors.

Data Management and Communication:
- Maintain accurate records of research findings, investment data, and market insights.- Create and present findings to the greater investment team

- Research Skills: Strong ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from various sources.- Critical thinking: Develop theses and conclusions by synthesizing across multiple data sources, identifying trends, and connecting ideas- Curiosity: A genuine interest in exploring new technologies, markets, and investment landscapes.- Communication: Effective communication skills for presenting research findings and insights.

**Qualifications**:
- Completed a minimum of two years of a post-secondary studies in a STEM focused program and be registered to continue your studies in the fall 2024 and winter of 2025.- Prior experience with startups, emerging technology, or investing would be an asset
