**Quality**
- Conducts PFI tests. Conducts and enters data into the computer for the following: freeness, bulk, opacity, tear, tensile, porosity, burst, for certificates of analysis.
- Performs non-routine tests, such as brightness and consistency, dirt/shive, Reviews Kraft production and schedules the testing workload for maximum coverages of pulp

grades.
- Generates quality summary reports by product for PFI tests as required.
- Checks and calibrates testing equipment (see equipment) as per ISO procedures.
- Maintains and initiates maintenance on test equipment and constant humidity equipment.
- Tests competitive samples submitted by sales and others.
- Performs product species identifications using microscopic slide preparation and analysis techniques.
- Prepares and dispatches customer service samples and maintains inventory of labels and boxes.
- Carries out special tests such as brightness reversion and tests associated with pulping trial evaluations.
- Collects and delivers production samples from the machine room.
- Maintains retained sample inventory.
- Performs PPRIC monitors for inter mill PFI comparisons.
- Test pulp for fiber length and coarseness.
- Prepares, coordinates and ships samples for contractor analysis i.e.) Econotech.
- Performs plastic analysis using microscope and melting point apparatus.
- Performs spot and speck microscopic and chemical analysis.
- Performs nit analysis on pulp when required (testing knife sharpness)
- Collects samples and tests crumb pulp.
- Checks and certifies that kraft mill fume hoods meet WCB flow standards.
- Black liquor, white liquor, green liquor and black liquor solid tests
- Acid Normality
- Chlovate Movality
- Assures that primary calibration equipment has ISO certification.

**Lab**
- Keeps inventory of lab supplies, initiates purchase requisitions for approval and ensures good housekeeping in the test area.
- Prepares and dispenses stock and standard solutions for the various test labs in the mill.
- Cleans Main Lab glassware.
- Performs Main Lab chemical and equipment inventory and ordering.
- Performs miscellaneous testing as outlined in the Technical Laboratory Procedure Manual, as required.

**Process**
- Carries out chip identification tests using an in-house Crofton quick method and microscopic examination.
- Conducts Chip Classification testing on chip sample as required. Enters data into the computer related to chip testing classifications and moisture.
- Collects process samples and performs testing (lime mud tests, fiber in liquor, EA, and other testing as required).
- Performs manual tests to calibrate Kraft Mill in-process equipment (eg. Kappa analyzer, consistency analyzers, FTNIR, ClO2 analyzers, brightness analyzers, pH meters)
- Creates and update SOP and testing procedures in accordance with TAPPI and PAPTAC standards
- Performs testing audits for Dirt/Shive in finished product
- Training and audit of operations personnel testing practices
- Performs Asbestos ID - 40 hour certification course required and on-going quarterly QA/QC
- Green Liquor and Black liquor testing, in support of P & R operations
