To support us on our journey, YRCAS is looking for a Research Analyst Placement Student to support our Equity, Innovation and Community Engagement Department.

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

Supporting the Equity, Innovation and Community Engagement Department, the Research Analyst Student will research and analyze the needs of York Region’s diverse families, and will help to inform direction on unique and meaningful projects in support of the health and wellbeing of the diverse children, youth and families of York Region while engaging with a diverse range of individuals, including agency, sector and provincial leadership, agency staff, community partners, service users, and more.
- Work with the Equity, Innovation and Community Engagement Department and applicable stakeholders on emergent research priorities applicable to the Agency, the Child Welfare Sector, and to York Region.
- Design research plans and methodologies that are ethical and appropriate to the research being conducted.
- Develop research documents, such as study protocols, consent forms, and instruments for data collection.
- Lead data collection activities, such as conducting surveys, facilitating interviews and focus groups, reviewing appropriate literature, etc.
- Manage communications with research participants, including scheduling, obtaining consent, and providing study information.
- Identify challenges and bottlenecks in current services, programs and initiatives, and propose innovative solutions.
- Prepare charts, graphs and tables as appropriate for the inclusion in reports, papers, briefs, proposals and presentations.
- Prepare detailed research reports summarizing research objectives, plans and methodologies utilized, and relevant findings and conclusions.
- Prepare grant proposals that clearly and concisely define research objectives, aims, and outcomes.
- Present findings, results and insights to team members and applicable stakeholders.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment with broader Agency objectives.

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**:

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with team members, leadership, and research participants.
- Strong report-writing skills to synthesize research plans and findings into meaningful reports, papers, briefs, publications, proposals, etc.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Strong collaboration, team-orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Able to effectively communicate and engage with a diverse range of individuals within and external to the organization.
- A proactive and extremely detail-oriented approach to work, with a passion for continuous improvement.
- A curious, creative and innovative mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Proficiency in PowerBI preferred.
- A driver’s license and access to reliable transportation and/or the ability to travel regularly within York Region is required.
- Lived experience as a member or ally of an equity deserving group is preferred.
