We are looking for a Theatre Technician to join our Morven Campus (grades 8-12). The role is responsible for supporting the technical needs for all Senior School events and theatre productions in the areas of sound and lighting, projections, and audio-visual setup and reports to the Senior School Principal. This is a Temporary Contract position until June 27, 2025.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide technical support for special school events, including lighting, sound, and A/V, in collaboration with the Head of Department for Performing Arts.
- Ensure smooth technical and production operations during rehearsals and events.
- Set up and dismantle all necessary equipment for school events and manage any external rental equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with the Head of Department for Performing Arts to obtain quotes for external rentals and oversee deliveries and returns.
- Maintain theatre and equipment through regular testing, cleaning, and quality assurance, keeping records of health and safety requirements, organizing storage, and managing a sustainable replacement program for essential equipment.
- Assist event organizers alongside the Head of Department for Performing Arts and the Information Technology Department to determine technical requirements for events.
- Identify the need for external specialists to enhance technical and production capabilities when necessary.
- Collaborate with members of the Junior School if they are using the Darlene Howard Theatre to ensure vision for the production can be achieved.

Required qualifications
- Post-secondary education with a technical theatre certificate/diploma, working towards one, or equivalent experience.
- General knowledge and experience with theatrical and performance technologies, systems, and practices, including audio, video, and lighting, with expertise in at least one of these areas.
- Experience operating sound and lighting consoles for live events.
- Basic knowledge of backstage procedures and theatrical organization.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols in the performance industry.
- Ability to climb and work at heights, including on ladders and genie lifts.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in operating, managing, and maintaining sound and lighting systems.
- Competent in general IT.
- Able to show initiative, learn quickly, and commit to ongoing training.
- Calm under pressure.
- Willing to work weekends, evenings and early mornings
- Have experience working with school-age students and or experience working in a school, a strong asset.
