**Battle River School Division is recruiting for the following position**:
**POSITION TITLE**: **Safety Coordinator**

***:
This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Division’s safety program (inspections, investigations, emergency preparedness and safety training) and ensuring the Division is in compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) codes and regulations. This position is responsible to the Director of Human Resources.

**The Division consists of many educational programs including the following**:

- 19 Traditional Schools,
- 3 Dual Track French Immersion Schools,
- 10 Colony Schools,
- 1 Alternative School,
- 1 Outreach School

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS)**:

- Valid Alberta Class 4 operator’s license
- Three years experience in a similar field
- Knowledge of OH&S Regulations
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, analytical and time management skills
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience with the Partnership in Injury Reduction Program and COR Auditing
- Travel to all sites in the school division throughout the school year

**FIRST CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING**:

- One of the Canadian Safety designations
- First Aid Instructor Certificate
- Playground Inspector Certification
- Knowledge of School Based Operations
- Knowledge of ergonomic assessments

**GENERAL DUTIES**:

- Provide information and assistance to administration and employees regarding interpretation and compliance with safety legislation, Division policies, procedures and regulations.
- Administer the OH&S program throughout the Division.
- Manage the employee Workers Compensation Board (WCB) claim process. Review incidents to generate preventative measures.
- Maintain a safety program with the intention of maintaining Certificate of Recognition (COR)from WCB’s Safety Partnership Program.
- Support the Off-Campus Coordinator with the Inspection of hazardous RAP/Work Experience worksites for safety and assist with corrective actions.
- Stop any work where it is perceived to be imminent danger to an individual present at a worksite by advising school administration, or in their absence issuing an internal stop work order.
- Conduct audits and assist with inspections of all division facilities at appropriate intervals to identify potential hazards and determine that procedures, equipment, and facilities meet accepted occupational health and safety standards.
- Adapt emergency response plans.
- Collaborate on the Division disaster plan and review school disaster plans.
- Conduct safety meetings, seminars, training including First Aid Training to employees within the Division.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Starting Salary for this position is $68,000 to $100,000 based on qualifications and experience.
