The Supervisor position is an integral component to the success of Border Paving Ltd. Reporting to Project Managers, the main responsibilities of this position include, direct supervision and development of crew members, task planning, day to day construction and equipment operation. This is a hands on position that performs a variety of tasks while working outside in variable conditions. The position requires the successful candidate to be detail orientated and physically fit with the ability to do some labour intensive tasks. A minimum Class 5 license is required.

Qualifications:

  • Safety conscious, ensuring a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Supervisory experience related to this scope of work
  • Ability to work continuously for extended periods of time under set deadlines, collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently with little supervision
  • Strong decision making, communication and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience in road construction including sub grade prep, grades, survey and layout
  • Experience with finish operation of grader and sub-grade stabilizing

Job Overview and Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily field level hazard assessments, filling employee timesheets, safety reports and other reports as required
  • Provide effective leadership, development and training to crew members
  • Ability to direct crew and work closely with subcontractors to efficiently deliver on project expectations and timelines
  • Operate a variety of base equipment safely and proficiently
  • Calculate and coordinate equipment and material required per project
  • Interact in a professional and courteous manner with the public
  • Requires a flexible work schedule including overtime, weekend and out of town work as required during the construction season (May - November)
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
