Student Success Liaison Officer

**SUMMARY**:The incumbent will ensure the success of the Timiskaming First Nation students attending schools in the town of Notre Dame du Nord (St-Joseph and Riviere-des-Quinze) and attending high school in the area (Timiskaming District Secondary School). They will assist and support the student success in all areas of education.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:Diploma/Degree is education or related field; with a minimum of 1+ years work experience in a related field

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS**:Knowledge of Timiskaming First Nation (TFN) services, administrative and operational policies and procedures, financial budgeting, and reporting practices
- Bilingualism (French-English)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet specific deadlines
- Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Experience working with children and youth in an educational environment
- Knowledge of the Quebec and Ontario provincial education systems
- Knowledge in First Nations culture will be considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license

**MAJOR RESONSIBILITIES**:Establishing all aspects of preparation, instruction, communication, record keeping for action plans assigned to the students
- Developing a communication plan with all parties involved
- Assisting the Director of Education with all logistics related to establishing a communication network with parents/guardians and mature students who attend these aforementioned schools
- Working with the provincial schools listed above to coordinate workshops for the students, their teachers and the parents/guardians of the TFN students
- Work with the staff and local organizations to ensure programs are aimed at helping students where needs are identified
- Assist in the planning of workshops, seminars, etc for high school students and provide them with information/options on post-secondary education and career options.
- Help develop and maintain regular mentorship programs intended to motivate students to be successful in their education
- Organize and implement evening tutoring sessions for high school students

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Office environment
- Five-day work week (35 hours per week)
- Evenings (required)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $21.91-$30.06 per hour
