PhD: $28,000/year divided into 3 equal installments each year. It is expected that the student will work approximately 10 to 15 hours per week for approximately a two-year period (4 semesters).

Assessment accommodation

**Duties**:
1. Contribute to conceive, develop, plan, and implement research aiming at the integration of forest biomass to the bioeconomy.
2. Contribute to conceive, develop, plan, and implement research aiming at the integration of innovative wood characterization approach in the development of advanced material through thermochemical processes such as pyrolysis and gasification.
3. Provide scientific advice in the modelling of wood quality for the development of high-value products to increase efficiency of the Canadian forest bioeconomy.
4. Publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific publications.
5. Support research staff to strategize, design, and plan a program of research that is well positioned within the programs of the department (i.e. NRCan).

Essential Education:
Graduation with a MSc in Engineering, specializing in forestry, wood science, or related fields.

Degree equivalency

Essential Experience:
01 - Experience with destructive and nondestructive analytical tools in wood quality, including, but not limited to chemical and mechanical testing
02 - Experience in wood science or forestry.
03 - Experience with destructive and nondestructive analytical tools in wood quality, including, but not limited to chemical and mechanical testing.
04 - Proven experience in scientific writing (both French and English).
05 - Proven experience in technology transfer, including, but not limited to thesis, conference papers, conference posters.
