Children's Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) is the association representing Ontario's publicly funded child and youth mental health centres. With the combined strength of our members, we advocate for government investments, policies and programs that are responsive to the needs of children, youth and families seeking mental health services in Ontario. Our member organizations operate in every region of the province, providing treatment and support to 120,000 children, youth and families a year.

**Position Description and Requirements**:
Working with the Director, Strategic Relations and Communications, as well as the CMHO team and external communications consultants, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for aspects of internal and external communications, including:
1. Digital Strategies and Content Development
- Managing the CMHO website which includes preparing web content and uploading it, identifying opportunities to improve website traffic, and providing basic ongoing tech support to the CMHO team.
- Supporting advocacy campaigns including identifying new and creative ways to broaden our reach and engage our audiences online and creating advocacy toolkits for CMHO members and other partners.
- Writing copy/stories for social media and web, as well as creating simple graphics for use on CMHO's website and social channels.
- Providing regular reporting and analytics with strategic recommendations.
- Liaising with outside contractors specializing in web, digital marketing and social media.
- Managing CMHO's substantial social media networks on Facebook, Twitter and Linked In and regular engagement with a very active audience of stakeholders, parents, mental health advocates, ambassadors/influencers, and youth.

2. Member Support and Stakeholder Engagement
- Developing internal member e-blasts, newsletters, and other communications using MailChimp.
- Creating advocacy toolkits for CMHO members and partners.
- Fostering and sustaining relationships with members, internal and external stakeholders, and providing communications, social media/web support as needed.
- Researching and organizing information for special tasks, such as annual reports/ organizational reports, etc., and provide direction to graphic designers and other external suppliers.
- Providing digital communications support and social media training for CMHO members.

3. Media Relations
- Monitor media and issues online.
- Respond to media inquiries and write media packages: advisories, news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets.

4. Event Support
- Provide support for CMHO events, such as our annual conference, including overseeing website content, digital campaigns, community management and marketing, and other support as needed.
- Assist the CMHO team in the coordination, planning, promotion and execution of special events.

**Desired Qualifications**:

- University degree or equivalent experience. Three to five years experience in communications, public relations or marketing.
- Strategic Communications: Experience developing content, reports, and adapting key messages.
- Digital Communications: Experience maintaining and creating website content. Experience with social media content development. Familiarity with graphic design fundamentals and graphic design competency, e.g., Canva or Adobe.
- Superior organizational skills, initiative, and excellent communication skills-both written and verbal.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
- Commitment to collaboration and team-work, and eager to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to succeed at unsupervised tasks and team-based projects.
- A willingness to learn and try new things.
- Bilingualism (FR/ENG) an asset.

**Application Process**:
This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary range is $55,000 to $75,000 and dependent on experience.

At this time work is remote optional, with in person meetings and duties as required in office. However, this may change to a hybrid model and prospective applicants should consider this when applying.
