**Position Description**:
Position: Marketing & Communications Officer
Site: Hybrid: MaRS Discovery Tower + Remote (minimum 2 days/week on-site)
Department: Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research
Reports to: Manager, Planning & Operations
Salary Range: $74,412 to $93,034 per annum commensurate with experience and consistent with the UHN compensation policy
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
Status: Temporary Full-time (12-13 months
- maternity leave coverage)

We are an innovative and groundbreaking collaborative organization formed by three partner institutions (Hospital for Sick Children, University Health Network, University of Toronto) - it brings together basic, translational, and clinical research under one umbrella with a singular focus: addressing heart failure across the entire life span.
As** Marketing & Communications Officer,** you have a unique opportunity to use your creativity, strategic communications expertise, and a passion for science to support and enable our collaborative research teams of current and next-generation experts. Acting as a resource to our community of investigators across our partner institutions, you will: bring to life the experience of living with heart failure and its impact; showcase innovative research, technology and digital solutions that address heart failure; and help build a community with shared purpose and vision.
We are looking for a team member who is goal-oriented and self-motivated, and who will engage thoughtfully with scientific and clinical leaders, student trainees, and people with lived experience while improving the experiences of patients, caregivers and families living with heart failure.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement a communications strategy that includes knowledge translation, media outreach, and social media content calendar aligned to the organization¿s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
- Research and translate complex scientific information into engaging materials (e.g. written, video, infographics, presentations, etc.) for internal and external audiences
- Maintain communication channels (e.g. website, social media, newsletter, etc.), ensuring timely and effective delivery; stay abreast of current communication trends and tools to find the best approach suited to our internal and external audiences.
- Conceptualize and oversee the format and set-up of educational and stakeholder engagement events (e.g., local and international conferences, town halls, workshops, etc.).
- Prepare materials documenting progress against goals e.g. annual donor report.
- Analyze data and evaluate results to ensure effectiveness of marketing efforts and initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships across the partnership¿s network.
- Supports the communications needs of the team.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience as communications specialist (minimum five years of relevant communications, media, knowledge translation and/or marketing related activities)
- Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communication skills and proficiency in communicating and engaging effectively with a variety of audiences
- Experience organizing and implementing communications plans in a consultative manner across a variety of community channels and media (i.e., reports, web, and social media)
- Ability to interpret, translate, and distill research from primary sources into compelling, engaging, and enlightening communications
- Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills to plan projects, achieve results and meet critical timelines in collaboration with stakeholders
- Experience with research evidence, metrics and measures of productivity; able to track, describe, summarize and profile research and/or network successes and achievements
