**Main Purpose of the Job**:
The purpose of this job is to provide support to families and individuals with FASD who have involvement with Child & Family Programs and are at risk of child apprehension.
- Work with the Ministry of Social Services to increase knowledge of FASD and potential impact of FASD on their client population.
- Work with the Ministry of Social Services to assist the family in creating a safe environment to live.
- Provide face-to-face support to families assisting them in putting strategies and accommodations to work in home, school, and work environments.
- Support families to access existing services and/or tailor services to meet the needs of persons with FASD and their families.
- Work to increase awareness and understanding in the community of the impact of FASD on persons with the disability and their families.
- Support individuals with FASD and their families to recognize themselves as safe, supported, valued and contributing members of the community.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Safety planning with families where there are concerns about neglect
- Assistance in accessing and filling out documents (e.g. housing forms, child tax, etc.)
- In-home support and strategy implementation in times of crisis and/or high stress
- Transportation pertaining to child safety and wellbeing
- Support with the process of Family Court, including communication with the lawyer and supporting the person through the process.
- To provide information on FASD to professionals attached to the individual and/or family to increase knowledge of FASD to assist in meeting the needs of the person living with FASD
- Provide behavioral consultation and outreach strategies including home visits when necessary or beneficial. For example, providing practical strategies like creating visual charts, task lists, use of timers and other reminders
- Support the facilitation of learning among parents (birth, adoptive, foster, grandparents, and extended families) through creative approaches (role modeling, demonstrating). This includes connecting families to training opportunities and provincial events provided by the FASD Network of Saskatchewan.
- Work with families to understand assessment documents and support them through the process.
- Provide additional support to families transitioning out of supportive living environments
- Maintain regular contact with the CFP worker of the family and be familiar with their concerns, goals, and future planning for the children involved.

**Additional Duties**
- Contribute to board reports, annual reports and other documents as directed by the Executive Director and/or Support Program Coordinator.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Support Program Coordinator.

**Other Requirements**
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as the position requires.
- Travel will be expected, including overnights.
- Must have access to a vehicle and be willing to use the vehicle for job purposes, including client transportation where necessary.

**Qualifications**
- Related post-secondary education such as Bachelor of Social Work degree.
- 1-2 years’ experience working with families who have a member living with a cognitive disability.
- Knowledge of FASD, its affects, and strategies in behavior management is desired.
- Knowledge of Child and Family Services and protocols is preferred
- Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members.
- Ability to plan, organize and/or prioritize daily activities

The Network has two Intensive Support Positions available, 1 permanent full-time position and 1 full-time contract until March 31st.
