
Part Time Family Support Worker

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of families in need? Prairie Harm Reduction's Family Support Program is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Part-Time Family Support Workers. We provide crucial community and in-home support to families at high risk of apprehension and involvement with the Ministry of Social Services.
Shifts are 4 pm -12 am Monday to Friday and 4 pm-12 am on weekends and statutory holidays. Part-Time Family Support Workers have the flexibility to pick up shifts as needed.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide direct support within family homes, navigating high-risk situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Respond swiftly to emergent needs identified by families, community partners, and the Ministry of Social Services.
- Assist parents in accessing vital services and navigating potentially threatening situations.
- Develop creative, sustainable, and attainable safety plans.
- Mentor parents and caregivers on healthy parenting and coping skills.
- Help families identify and connect with potential support networks and professional resources.
- Maintain thorough documentation and ensure follow-through on appointments and commitments.
- Supervise visitations.
- Thoroughly document visitations using provided guidelines and submit reports to Child & Family Workers.
- Ability to think outside the box creating sustainable, attainable safety plans
- Mentor parent and other adult caregivers on healthy parenting and coping skills.
- Assist families to identify potential support networks, and connect with relevant alternative caregivers and/or professionals that can provide support to families in time of crisis before crisis occurs.
**Reunification Support**:
- Intensive in home support.
- Rotating shift work Monday through Friday and on weekends and holidays.
- Transportation for parents and children.
- Mentor parent on healthy parenting and coping skills.
- Develop creative, sustainable, and attainable safety plans.
- Complete intake and assess needs of parents and children.
**Preferred Skills & Education**:
- Must agree to a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Check and possess a valid Driver's License.
- Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, or post-secondary education in a related human services field, or a combination of relevant work and life experience.
- Must have Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Strong understanding of Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed Care practices.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with families.
- Knowledge of substance use and its impact on parenting.
- Familiarity with community services and agencies in Saskatoon.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Pay: From $23.75 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 35 per week
Flexible language requirement:
- French not required
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Every Weekend
- Weekends as needed
