**JOB OVERVIEW: DOCUMENTATION TECHNICIAN**

Reporting to Library Supervisor, this position is responsible for collaborating with the Student Engagement & Community Outreach Librarian, design and create library web and print documents and graphics for instructional, information, administrative, or promotional purposes. Coordinate library documentation for all campus libraries; manage library printing requirements.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of a two-year Library Technician diploma from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution or combination of equivalent education, training and experience.
- Completion of, or ability to obtain, relevant graphics, design, and web design courses.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Experience using an automated circulation system.
- Proven ability to think creatively. Demonstrated digital creative ability and familiarity with visual design principles.
- Broad knowledge of social media platforms including their purposes.
- Keyboarding skills and experience with word processing.
- Ability to learn graphic design software, digital media technologies, desktop publishing, digital photography, image editing, page layout and web publishing software.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to use tact and discretion with a variety of people and situations and work in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of file management and sharing systems.
- Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision, to establish priorities, achieve deadlines, problem solve and function well under pressure
- Previous experience working in a public services environment.
- Physical ability to:

- move materials on carts.
- stand for long periods of time.
- stand on step stools and bend and reach when shelving.
- lift moderate to heavy weights e.g.30 to 50 pounds
Timings are 7:30 - 3pm Monday - Friday.
1 x 30 minute unpaid meal period, 2 x 15 minute rest periods. Hours may vary during intersession, or do to operational needs. End date 6 months with the possibility of an extension.
