The Opportunity

Vermilion Energy has an exciting opportunity within the Operations Accounting Business Unit, seeking an Operations Analyst. Based in Calgary, AB, this role will report directly to the Team Lead, Analysis and be an integral part of the Calgary Operations Accounting Business Unit. The Operations Analyst will leverage technology to help automate and enhance the team’s analytical and processing capabilities. The position will also be accountable for supporting the Analysis team in process optimization and completing day-to-day responsibilities.

What you will do
- Process optimization: Working with the Analysis team, identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve Analysis processes. These could include:

- Conversion of existing processes to SAP or Power BI
- Documentation of new or revised processes related to SAP
- Integrating new assets related to mergers or acquisitions
- Special Projects
- Assist other stakeholders to find solutions to information gaps through adhoc reporting with SAP and / or Power BI
- Train other stakeholders on new processes using SAP and / or Power BI
- Trouble shoot issues and work with stakeholders in IT, Engineering, JV Accounting, Production Accounting, Land and Joint Venture contracts departments. to solve problems
- Work in conjunction with operations personnel to understand and analyze Vermilion’s performance
- Active support of internal control processes, including SOX
- Contribute to the development of the Opex Forecast and Budget
- Provide accurate and timely accruals, journal entries and account reconciliations for the month-end close process
- Analyze and present operational results at monthly lease-op review meetings

What you will bring
- Minimum of 5 years combined accounting experience in the oil & gas industry.
- Proficient Excel and Power BI skills.
- Experience with ERP Software such as SAP would be an asset.
- Ability to use SQL queries to create or enhance Adhoc reports would be an asset.
- Exceptional time management skills, ability to multi-task and manage priorities
- Analytical ability to investigate anomalies and verify data integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain partnerships
- Process management skills and the drive to perpetually optimize processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
