**Position Summary**
- To facilitate field HSE operations for a Drilling, Shoring & piling operation.
- To enable ownership of safety by project leaders and their teams by providing them with proactive coaching and expert HSE guidance. This position will be a stand alone advisor with support from Operations Manager.
- Work in consultation and establish regular communication with HSE Director to promote safe work behaviors by assisting in reviewing, revising, and implementing policies, procedures, and practices that are in line with company objectives and legislation requirements.
- Audit and evaluate all safety documentation within assigned areas to ensure compliance
- Conduct facility and field inspections to ensure compliance with OHS & company standards
- Facilitate company safety and committee meetings as well as maintain recorded minutes
- Assist in the development of risk reviews, hazard assessments, safe work procedures, rescue plans, job safety analysis, emergency response drills, and field level hazard assessments
- Follow up on and track corrective actions stemming from incident investigations, safety meetings, inspections, and observation/hazard reports
- Provide support and implement employee competency/training programs for assigned areas
- Encourage safe work practices and compliance with procedures, while providing guidance/support when required; maintain a positive health & safety culture in line with the company’s values
- Communicate and submit required daily, weekly, and monthly safety information/feedback to the HSE Director as required.

**The core accountabilities of the position include**:

- Provide effective adoption and coaching support to help site leaders effectively achieve safety objectives, comply with company HSE direction and engage the project team in safety ownership. This includes provision of effective training and communication.
- Conduct enable and supporting proactive hazard identification at sites.
- Enable and support site personnel in developing operating plans that incorporate effective measures to prevent and protect.
- Develop, maintain and promote site emergency preparedness procedures.
- Evaluate and ensure site safety systems and controls are in accurate, timely and in good working condition.
- Work in consultation and establish regular communication with HSE Director to promote safe work behaviors by assisting in reviewing, revising, and implementing policies, procedures, and practices that are in line with company objectives and legislation requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop coaching relationships with project leadership team focused on helping them define and achieve their safety culture and continuously improve their safety performance. This includes the provision of ongoing feedback to these leaders.
- Lead by demonstrating the required behaviours, attitudes and mindset to further develop an already strong safety culture.
- Participate in the implementation of project / department HS&E plans, goals and objectives.
- Provide preparation assistance and feedback for leaders of HS&E meetings with employees and contractor staff.
- Provide HSE training, orient and personal coaching to site staff.
- Participate in the analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation of HS&E related training, as required.
- Provide consultation and assist in risk identification assessment, hazard analysis and job planning. Develop job aids and methods to assist site personal in these tasks.
- Support and facilitate incident investigations with the key objective of increasing the capabilities of operating personnel.
- Monitor site conditions and behaviours to identify risks and provide site leaders with input and recommendations to enhance safety performance.
- Conduct safety audits, coordinate audit recommendations, and assist in the development of corrective action plans in consultation with project management.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and adherence to all applicable legislation, standards and guidelines, and influence the adoption of standards when applicable to the project jurisdiction.
- Participation in toolbox talks, JHA assessments, weekly reporting and auditing required.
- Communicate and submit required daily, weekly, and monthly safety information/feedback to the HSE Director as required.

**Work experience Requirements**:

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Health, Safety & Environment Management Systems
- Industrial construction, piling industry experience is considered an asset
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
- Valid CSTS-2020 course from ACSA
- Standard Level First Aid is an asset
- ACSA COR Auditor Certified preferred
