**Shop Planner / Estimator**

**Key Responsibilities**:
Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services such as liners, buckets, bucket components, mechanical assemblies, pumps, pipe and chutes to internal and external clients by performing the following duties:

- Read and understand client and/or outside sales representative’s instructions, drawing, specifications and supporting documentation to develop customized quotations on a timely basis based on a markup on cost of production through customized quotation software.
- Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.
- Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.
- Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
- Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
- Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
- Confirms costing and delivery, calculates pricing and orders job specific materials and services
- Confirms and establishes delivery schedules with customer and shop scheduler.
- Communicates with customers regarding delivery, pricing and shipping or orders.
- Builds and maintains customer relationships.
- Enters new part number data into computer database.
- Orders and expedites job specific materials.
- Continually improves product knowledge.
- Secures and verifies customer purchase order information with sales order to ensure accurate billing, shipping and credit terms

**Education/Experience**:

- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Solidworks or AutoCad experience.
- Extensive Excel Experience
- Experience with SQL and GlobalShop software is highly desired, but not required.
