Job title: Handyperson/Maintenance Coordinator

Job summary: The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for building maintenance of the Nikkei
National Museum & Cultural Centre. They perform typical maintenance duties including drywall repairs, painting, unclogging drainage, light bulb fixture replacement, snow removal, etc. They schedule and are the onsite contact for contractors including fire system, irrigation, HVAC, etc.

Organizational status: The Maintenance Coordinator will report to the Operations Manager. Up to 35 hours/week Tuesday-Saturday with expectation to adjust schedule to support activities.

Salary Range: $25-30/hour

Work performed:

- Perform typical maintenance duties including but not limited to: o Drywall repairs, painting walls o Unclogging minor drainage, plumbing o Minor electrical - light bulb fixture replacement o Snow removal, salting o Property maintenance
- Schedule and be onsite contact for contractors including fire system, irrigation, HVAC, boiler, etc
- Ensure regular and preventative maintenance on building’s systems and equipment
- Respond to maintenance requests
- Order and pick up supplies as needed for maintenance
- Keep a log of building maintenance reports and work
- Gallery art installations

Qualifications and Skills Required:

- Experience completing repairs, painting and minor plumbing/electrical experience.
- Ability to work independently, excellent time management skills and completes work in a timely manner.
- Organization and ability to manage schedules with contractors
- Written communication skills
- Physically fit - will be required to climb ladders and move heavy furniture, equipment or supplies (up to 50 lbs).
- Flexible schedule
- Able to work independently
- Fluent in English; Japanese language skill is an asset.

- Lift certificate an asset

Location
The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (NNMCC) is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples; and in particular, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Musqueam,
Sḵwxw̱ú7mesh Úxwumixw Squamish, səli̓lwətaɁɬ Tsleil-Waututh, and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm Kwikwetlem First
Nations territories.

The Nikkei National Museum is located in the heart of Metro Vancouver, a 10-minute walk from the
Edmonds Skytrain station, with easy access by public transit and car. There is free parking underground. Nearby attractions include the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, the Burnaby Village
Museum, the Burnaby Art Gallery, and the Edmonds Community Centre. Metrotown Mall is 3 km away and downtown Vancouver is 20 km away.
