The Overnight Casual Support Worker is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who is interested in gaining experience working during the night time. Permanent Supportive Housing Programs provide permanent and long-term housing supports for people who are seeking stability, recovery and an overall better life. You will support residents who due to histories of trauma and related mental illness and addictions require enhanced levels of housing supports.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct care to residents through provision of basic needs while adhering to a harm reduction model, best practices, and person-centered approach.
- Communicate and receive information from integrated staff team regarding progress of the residents, significant changes in behavior, and any concerns/challenges that the resident is experiencing.
- Promote self-care, conflict resolution, positive communication, empathy and respect through positive reinforcement, role modeling and supportive listening when natural opportunity arises.
- Communicate (verbally or in writing) pertinent information (resident/facility updates, etc.) to team to maintain a safe and productive environment.
- Assist with medications for all residents.
- Maintain cleanliness and health-related standards at the site location.
- Build positive relationships with community stakeholders and act as a point of contact for the community to develop neighborly relations.
- This position requires flexibility, an ability to adapt and function in potentially high stress environments. Potential exposure to: violent/aggressive situations, drugs and/or alcohol, cigarette smoke and bed bugs.
- This position requires periodically handling, moving office/agency/participants’ materials and equipment, climbing multiple flights of stairs, periodic yard maintenance and snow removal

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Certification required**:

- Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in the area of human services
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector.
- Intervention Record Check.
- Certifications: First Aid and CPR, Medication Administration, Suicide Intervention, Food Safety.

**Experience**
- 6 months+ of related direct service work experience with diverse communities with varying complexities of priorities and needs.
- Working knowledge and experience with harm reduction, person-centered, trauma-informed, natural law, strength based, collaborative, and/or solution focused practice.
- Proven ability to foster a team environment.
- Experience working in collaborative partnerships.
- Personal lived experience of addictions, mental health, racism, discrimination, poverty is an asset.
