**The Opportunity**

Working very closely with Valley Community Learning Association (VCLA) and local YREACH Settlement and Language Team, this position will focus on providing support to newcomer young adults, and adults, with a specific focus on navigating work worlds and achieving high school diploma. This position will also provide employment navigation and employment readiness training for newcomers in the valley area as well as outreach support to surrounding communities.

**Responsibilities**
- Providing employment and education support to newcomer clients
- Navigating pre-employment and training services
- Delivering employment readiness training and facilitating work placements
- Building the profile in the community and raising awareness about and interest in the work related to employment and education navigation
- Working collaboratively and proactively with community partners including business community

**Qualifications & Skills**
- An understanding of, and experience with, cross-cultural issues and how they relate to settlement and integration for newcomers to Canada
- Knowledge and experience with navigating the Canadian work force and education options
- Robust experience, understanding and connection to a variety of community services and resources including business community
- Understanding and knowledge of adult education principles an asset
- Ability to demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated excellent rapport building and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Microsoft Office Skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Publisher, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and tasks
- Demonstrated discretion and sound judgement in the handling of confidential information
- High level of initiative is needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items
- Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations outside of regular business hours, as needed
- Valid NS Driver's License and reliable vehicle essential
