The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

**INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN**

The Instrumentation Technician safely repairs, maintains, calibrates, adjusts and installs industrial measuring and controlling instrumentation throughout the mine and milling operation. The Instrumentation Technician works collaboratively with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.

**Key Responsibilities**

Area 1:
Safely repairs, maintains, calibrates, adjusts and installs industrial measuring and controlling instrumentation throughout the mine and milling operation.
- Consult manufacturers manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, density, chemical composition and other variables.
- Read and interpret control schematics, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and process flow drawings.
- Inspect and test operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments.
- Repair and adjust system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts.
- Calibrate components and instruments according to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete test, maintenance and calibration reports.
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records using the maintenance management system (Oracle eAM).
- Complete all work orders and document additional repairs performed on each task.
- Install control and measurement instruments on existing and new plant equipment and processes.
- Detailed teardown and repair of control valves, actuators and positioners. Reassembles, tunes and setup associated hardware.
- Consult with and advise process operators and process control technicians.
- Keep work area safe, clean, and well maintained. Take timely action to correct unsafe work conditions in the work area.
- Diagnose and anticipate any problems or potential failures and provide recommendations for solutions.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety standards.

- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).

Area 3:
Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.

Qualifications

**Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves**

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- College diploma in electrical and/or instrumentation technician or another related field.
- Ontario Provincial or Inter-Provincial Instrumentation Technician License is preferred.
- Apprentices may be considered in accordance with business and legislative requirements.

Work experience - Nature & Length
- A minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
- Previous experience in open pit mining or mineral processing (specifically gold processing) is considered an asset.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
- A valid Ontario driver’s license is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
