**Title**: Environmental Health Technician
**Salary**: $65,467 - $79,650 per year (pay range explained below)
**Contract**: Permanent
**Hours**: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
**Location**: Metro Vancouver Area, BC, located on the located on the ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations - Hybrid
**Bargaining Unit**: PSAC Local 22000 (Public Service Alliance of Canada)
**About the role**
As Environmental Health Technician, you will deliver environmental health technical services to First Nations communities within the Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Salish regions. In collaboration with other Environmental Health Officers or Supervisors, and as part of the Environmental Health Services team, your work will contribute to creating healthier environments and fostering well-being within these communities.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have/be
- **Education, Training and Experience**
- Completion of 1 year of post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in scientific data collection, management, and community project involvement or leadership, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
**Knowledge**
- Basic knowledge of First Nations traditions, etiquette, cultures, customs, and priorities in BC.
- Knowledge of environmental health practices, including communicable disease control, sanitation, the Environmental Health Drinking Water Safety Program, and procedures for monitoring microbiological and chemical water quality.
- Experience in operating monitoring and sampling equipment, along with expertise in data collection, record keeping, data entry, and data management.
**Competencies**
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

The Pay Range is the minimum (Step 1) and maximum (highest Step) annual base salary based on full time equivalent hours. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
