**Assistant Production Manager Role**:
This role is responsible for the leadership of the production department through the direction of supervisors and production staff to meet and exceed production KPI's. The Assistant Production Manager will manage production work orders, direct the production team in the daily execution of the production schedule, and promote our Health and Safety practices in the workplace.

Duties include:

- Work closely with the Production Manager and coordinate product flow to minimize downtime, scrap and changeovers while meeting delivery dates
- Directly manage supervisors, lead hands and indirectly supervises hourly production staff
- Manages performance of all direct reports, providing leadership through coaching, feedback, setting performance objectives, measuring performance, documenting performance reviews and provides training and development
- Proficient in all tasks, positions and functions within production areas in order to train, develop and maintain a strong, engaged team.
- Ensure employees know how to perform jobs assigned in an efficient manner and they are aware of correct and safe way to operate the equipment
- Collaborate with Engineering to recommend and implement improvements to maximize productivity and output
- Recommend and support changes to process or equipment to maintain or increase production and the reduction of downtime
- Liaise with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to provide comprehensive production scheduling
- Create production plan and prioritize production orders
- Communicate production issues with all departments, including Sales, Quality, Engineering, and Human Resources
- Approve step-by-step work instructions
- Work with Process and Maintenance to schedule mold cleans
- Conduct regular team meetings and provide meaningful and timely feedback on issues and concerns
- Coaching, direction, development of supervisors and lead hands at both buildings and all shifts
- Work with Human Resources to ensure performance management and disciplinary action is applied fairly and consistently when required in accordance with company policies and procedures

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Post secondary education in Operations Management or a production related field from college or university
- 3-5 years' supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically injection moulding.
- Technical background in rubber injection molding is strongly preferred

- Sound judgement, critical thinking skills and ability to make difficult, time sensitive decisions
- Excellent leadership, change management and problem solving skills
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong follow-up, attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills
- Professional interactions with customers, employees, and management
- Work flexible hours to meet the needs of production which is 24-5
