**Job Summary**:
The Childcare Worker will work in conjunction with the LINC childcare staff and supervisor to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate childcare program for children while their families are studying English. The Childcare Worker will offer a nurturing environment for the children, and encourage their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.

**Your Role**:

- Carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the children, which may include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, individual and group activities.
- Attending to the children’s physical needs which may include lifting, carrying, eating, sleeping, wiping noses, and other basic needs.
- Attending to the children’s psychological and emotional needs which may include cuddling, rocking and holding the children.
- Providing a safe, caring, nurturing environment. Observing and removing potential hazards.
- Administering First Aid when necessary.
- Reporting all incidents of child abuse to the supervisory position and following the organization’s procedures and government legislation.
- Building and maintaining relationships with the parents.

**Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have**:

- A minimum requirement of 20 Hour Responsible Adult Training, Family Childcare Certification, or ECE Assistant status through the BC Ministry ECE Registry.
- Early Childhood (ECE) certification is an asset.
- Current first aid certification.
- At least one year experience providing care to children.
- Experience working with children with behavioural difficulties is an asset.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- Ability and comfort in talking to children and their parents.
- Good organization, time, and general management skills.
- Knowledge of early childhood development (ages and stages).
- Knowledge of age-appropriate group processes and facilitation techniques.
- Familiarity with Childcare Licensing Regulations as indicated in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
- Ability to be exposed to a high level of noise and distractions from children.
- Ability to pay close attention to children’s physical and emotional needs.
- Ability for moderate physical activity involving walking, standing, bending, and lifting children up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work evenings, if required.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
