Rice Group a commercial and industrial developer is seeking an experienced Jr. Estimator to join our Head Office team located in Markham, Ontario. Some of the responsibilities include review scopes of work for all trades/projects; tendering to sub trades and suppliers, provide bid summaries the preparation & issuance of contracts and purchase orders track and monitor sub-trade invoices & change orders, coordinate and problem solve with Project Managers & Site Supervisors (scope of work, materials, general issues);
Reporting to the Sr. Estimator, you will learn how to support and lead a variety of project pursuits within our company operations. As an integral member of the team, you will be hands on, with real life work assignments and career building skills

**Estimator Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the preparation of tender documents.
- Contact trade contractors and suppliers for pursuit support.
- Obtain and build unit-pricing.
- Perform and update quantity take-offs.
- Update request for information lists.
- Learn to understand trade scope definitions and local market conditions.
- Learn to understand varied contractual terms & conditions.
- Prepare purchase orders
- Review project change orders, and estimate change costs
- Run pre-award meetings
- Assist Project Team with reviewing invoices

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Completion of a degree or diploma in a civil engineering or architectural technology related field.
- Ability to perform quantity take-offs.
- Ability to perform unit pricing an asset
- Ability to read blueprints.
- A passion for working in a construction environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of conceptual estimating.
- Knowledge of a variety of contract arrangements such as: Lump Sum, Design Build, Project Management, Construction Management, and Public/Private Partnership.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets, design, and formulas.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Excel, Primavera, On-screen Takeoff, Bluebeam is an asset.
- Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word and MS Projects/Scheduling
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Liaise with Accounting on job costing and monthly invoicing
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure and meet critical deadlines
- Strong verbal & communication skills

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$72,292.00 per year
