**Duties and responsibilities of a professional waiter**:

- Formal table service and service of drinks

This job requires a high degree of discipline and a positive attitude always.

Also, flexibility is a must. A professional waiter should be ready to handle different requests simultaneously with little or no mistakes
- Meet guests when they arrive and get them settled at their tables.
- Anticipate guests’ needs by learning their preferences, allergies, dislikes, etc.
- Have a thorough understanding of all spirits and specialty foods in stock
- Make menu recommendations, answer questions and share additional information with restaurant patrons.
- Serve meals and pour drinks for guests
- Remain well-groomed at all times
- Keep up-to-date on all company policies on safety and hygiene
- Perform all duties with discretion, professionalism and a pleasant demeanour
- Maintain cleanliness of all facility spaces
- Ensure the consistent appearance of spaces across the restaurant.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day.
- Performs all his/her duties with a sense of priority and dedication.

The professional waiter is a key element in a team of professionals striving to deliver a level of personalized service that exceeds not only the expectation of the guest but will add a point of difference from the service provided anywhere else within the hotel/restaurant.

The professional waiter will take gentle care of all their guests from arrival until departure without imposing themselves on the guest

The attention to detail that is required from professional waiters, and their ability to anticipate guests’ needs means that they are the consummate restaurant professionals with impeccable standards. They will not accept anything less than the best available presentation of the food/drinks and public areas of the restaurant.

The professional waiter will strive to create an atmosphere so that guests experience the ‘wow’ factor.

**Requirements**.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to a fluid environment
- Commitment to a high level of customer service
- Strict attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with efficiency and discretion
- Knowledge of food and wine pairings
- Experience in a fine dining establishment is preferred.
- Experience with a restaurant POS
- Excellent communication skills will be needed to maintain a good conversation with both guests and colleagues in other departments
- Multitasking skills are needed to handle more than one task simultaneously
- Good customer service skills will be needed to ensure the comfort of their guests. Empathy is needed to understand the feelings of guests when there is a complaint about a bad service
- Time management skills are needed to attend to requests from guests in little or no time
- A good attitude is needed to give customers a sense of belonging in the environment

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 12-40 per week

**Salary**: From $15.50 per hour

Schedule:

- 4 hour shift
- Day shift
- Holidays
- Night shift
- Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

**Experience**:

- serving: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Smart Serve, SIR or equivalent (required)
