Sunrise Bakery is a large commercial bakery located on the west end of Edmonton. The company tradition began in 1963 and has expanded since to facilitate many customers across Canada and the United States. The small bakery ambience amongst 80+ persons is maintained by daily contact on a first name basis between staff and management. **An exciting opportunity has just opened to join our experienced Quality Control Team at Sunrise Bakery**

Sunrise Bakery is currently seeking a Quality Technician to add to our team. This individual must possess a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

This position is vital to our operations and provides long-term employment and growth opportunity.

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitor product safety and quality, production process and personnel GMP practice to ensure the compliance to established procedures (SOP’s), standards and requirements
- Perform production line quality checks
- Conduct relevant physical, chemical and organoleptic testing on ingredients, raw materials, and finished product
- Manage sample collection per production run. Collect samples at various stages of production
- Perform various swabbing for product safety monitoring
- Identify, report and investigate any deviation to procedure, system or standard and assist with implementing corrective actions and follow ups
- Participate or assist in employee training
- Inspections or audits of the facility to ensure food safety and quality standards are met
- Liaise with other departmental management to meet food safety and quality compliance, and provide assistance to other departments as needed or requested
- Participate or assist in internal audits in as needed basis
- Document reports and assist with all administrative functions associated with this role.
- Report process deviations and product failures and assist in the investigation and generation of solution to the problem
- Other duties as assigned

**Requirements, Skills & Qualifications**:

- Strong knowledge of BRC or SQF as well as HACCP, Prerequisite Programs, and GMP’s.
- 2 years experience in similar position
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a cross functional team environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Must be computer proficient (MS Office & Excel)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. An excellent understanding of spoken and written English is required
- Excellent time management and stress managing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Steel Toed Boots are required. Position involves standing and walking for long periods of time, occasionally working in the freezer. occasional heavy lifting is required
- This is a rotational shift position. Employees are required to rotate between Morning, Afternoon and Evening shift on a 4 week schedule

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $22.00 per hour
