**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Long-term Field Study Technician. This position will be responsible for designing, fabricating, validating field micrometeorological systems, document measurement and analysis techniques in report and prepare standing operating procedures. The Long-term Field Study Technician will also present at field tours and demonstrations of micrometeorological instrumentation.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- B.Sc. in Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, Soil Science or related field required.
- M.Sc. in engineering, soil science or related fields preferred.
- Three years of related experience required.
- Experience working in a research environment operating field instrumentation required.
- Field research or work experience required.
- Experience with repair and maintenance of gas flow systems.
- Experience working with weather monitoring equipment.
- Experience in use of Arduino processors in equipment control and internet of things.
- Experience with establishing wifi, LAN and RF communication systems.
- Experience with data loggers and control systems required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with job-related software such as MATLAB, Word/WordPerfect, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Experience using statistical programs required such as R, SPSS and SAS and providing statical and data analysis.
- Computer programming experience including the use of Phython required.
- Must be able to work within time and budget constraints.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal is required.
- Must be able to exercise sound judgement when solving field research problems.
- Good manual dexterity and eyesight required.
- Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and administer specific phases of projects.
- Ability to keep abreast of developments in the areas of expertise is required.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is required.
- Ability to develop, design and fabricate electronic/instrumentation systems is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- No allergies to soil, animals, plants or plant products or job related materials.
- Prolonged periods of activities which may include mobility and/or moderate to heavy lifting.
- Operation of 4x4 pickup trucks.
- Hitching and loading trailers.
