- Has post-secondary education preferably in Career and Work Counseling, and/or three years’ equivalent work related experience in Employment Counseling/Case Management, specifically for newcomers to Canada
- Has experience working with people from various cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
- Is knowledgeable of the Canadian labour market, Canadian workplace practices, job search strategies and techniques
- Have a minimum of two years’ experience conducting community outreach and coordination
- Have experience staffing an employment resource center (considered an asset)
- Has excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and problem-solve in order to meet program delivery targets
- Is demonstrably proficient in English oral and written communication
- Has intermediate proficiency in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Has a valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

**What you will do**: The Employment Settlement Specialist supports the activities of the Job Skills Newcomer Employment Programs and Services activities by:
**Newcomer Services**
- Interviewing clients to conduct needs assessment for additional assistance such as language/skills training, settlement support, accreditation assistance, mentoring, family services support, housing support, rehabilitation, and make appropriate referrals to those supports
- Participating in delivering outreach within the community, developing an awareness of community and social services and supports; including job fairs, community and employment agencies, and performing outreach to clients and community partners
- Liaise with all Welcome Centre services and partner agencies, as well as Employment Ontario Employment Service providers and other social, employment and community agencies, on mutual clients, as needed, to facilitate progress
- Watching for trends and provide supporting data to management for future report and proposal writing submissions
- Maintaining file notes and appropriate documentation about clients’ progress as required

**Case Manager**
- Support clients on issues related to job searching and the ways and means of conducting an effective job search through coaching on job search strategies, improving resume writing, interview techniques and networking, including social media

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 2-4 years’ experience in the Social Service sector
- Minimum education requirement is a Post-secondary education, preferably in Career Development or Social Service and/or related experience
