**Your Contribution to NRSI**

NRSI is looking fora qualified individual to lead various field
- and office-based tasks in the completion of project activities, as well as to assist with project proposals and other duties as assigned. The primary duties and responsibilities for this role include:

- Background information reviews;
- Client and agency staff liaison;
- Lead role or supporting role in the completion of terrestrial and wetland ecology field tasks, depending on area(s) of technical expertise, including but not limited the following:

- Breeding bird surveys
- Anuran call surveys
- Reptile surveys
- Bat habitat assessments
- Vegetation inventories and vegetation community mapping (Ecological Land Classification)
- Woodland dripline boundary delineation and/or wetland boundary delineation (Ontario Wetland Evaluation System)
- Other methods of targeted wildlife surveys or habitat assessments;
- Data entry, analysis and summarization;
- Impact assessment and evaluation of ecological significance and sensitivity;
- Report writing;
- Lead or supporting role in proposal development, including workplan and budget development.

**Your Education**:

- A degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences. Similar educational experience will also be considered.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience in project management or coordination within the field of ecology.
- Experience with Environmental Impact Studies or Environmental Assessments is an asset.
- Experience leading or assisting with terrestrial or wetland ecological field surveys, including any of those listed above.
- Demonstrated experience in report writing, data entry and analysis.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and orally.
- A desire and demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
- Familiarity with applicable natural heritage policies, legislation and guidelines (e.g., Provincial Policy Statement, Endangered Species Act, Significant Wildlife Habitat Technical Guide) is an asset.
- Willingness to work potentially long hours under variable field conditions as well as work on weekends and/or statutory holidays.
- Physical fitness, as field work for this position will be highly physical.
- Driver’s licence.

**Assets**:

- Up to date Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Certifications in ELC and the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES).
- Experience completing surveys for pollinators/insects, herpetofauna, birds, and mammals.
- Project management expertise, including proposal and report writing, budget preparation/tracking, data management, entry and analysis and client and agency correspondence.
