**Position Summary**:
Learning Outcomes:

- Understand various scholarship and theory regarding the steps of the scientific method and use them effectively in their own research.

2. Take part in science communication activities using several modes of delivery and be able to evaluate the effectiveness of science communication efforts.

3. Students will be able to organize themselves as part of a team and plan and deliver projects.

4. Students will research, analyze, and synthesize information in order to complete short assignments.

5. Students will possess a broad understanding and appreciation for the importance of science communication and able to serve as ambassadors of science.

6. Students will gain skills in critical thinking, creative problem solving, and how these can be applied to solve current and future issues facing modern society.

Topics Covered:
Making observations; making observations, asking questions, and identifying problems; research: planning your approach, resources, and critical thinking; creative problem solving/generating hypotheses; designing and performing experiments; data collection, organization, and analysis; accepting or rejecting hypotheses; graphic data presentation; reporting your results; discussion sections and next steps; communication: modes and audiences; visual communication: infographics, oral communication, and public speaking; public outreach and science communication: oral communication, podcasts, radio, and audio recording; bioethics: past, current, and future issues.
