Rector of The Cathedral Church of St. Paul

The Cathedral Church of St. Paul in London Ontario is seeking a new Rector to lead the parish in sharing the gospel, deepening faith and enlivening the Cathedral’s presence in the downtown core. A historic church in the centre of downtown London, St. Paul’s has a tradition of good liturgy and fine music paired with a heart for the marginalized. The new rector will be a person of strong faith, a passionate leader and excellent communicator who will grow relationships with our downtown ecumenical partners as well as with city officials. They will be a strong advocate of justice and compassion for all, seeking to grow a diverse Cathedral community and supporting the work of caring for the poor and unhoused who are clients of St. Paul’s Social Services. The new rector will require strong management skills including gifts in recruiting and managing volunteers, working with the Churchwardens who function as the corporation of St. Paul’s Cathedral and in oversight of Woodland Cemetery. The rector of the Cathedral is customarily appointed as the Dean of Huron, so should be a priest who understands and appreciates the role of Dean in the governance of the diocese.
Situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron, London is diverse and growing city of over 400,000 people. With the population expected to increase to 650,000 by the early 2050s, there is an opportunity for the Cathedral to be part of a revitalization of the downtown core. Home to the University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College as well as a network of teaching hospitals, London is a UNESCO City of Music, hosts the Grand Theatre and offers a variety of residential neighbourhoods, making it a good place to call home.
