Position Summary
Vice President Strategy and Digital Health
Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, The Vice President, Strategy and Digital Health, will provide strategic leadership for NYGH’s strategy and transformation, digital, information technology, clinical informatics, business intelligence, health information management and biomedical engineering portfolios. The Vice President will build on NYGH’s recognition as a national health system leader in the integration and use of innovative health information technology and clinical informatics by leading new digital and technology solutions that transform the way the organization works and provide connected care to the communities served. In leading the strategy and digital health portfolios, the Vice President will also play a key leadership role in advancing health system innovation and transformation through NYGH’s partnership with the North York Toronto Health Partners and other health system providers.
On a practical level, you will
- Foster and maintain partnerships and relationships with members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), health care partners, government and agencies, and other stakeholders to leverage, support and collaborate with various health system partners while continuously assessing the external landscape and championing an organizational culture that empowers NYGH’s mission shared purpose and values and that contributes to a more integrated patient care system that supports the achievement of NYGH’s strategic objectives.
- Lead in the monitoring of NYGH’s current strategic plan, participate in its execution with respect to area of responsibility, and lead the ongoing strategy refresh process.
- Provide overall direction and strategic leadership for assigned portfolio by identifying, leading, developing an executing an innovative strategy that improves integration and builds continuum of care across all portfolios that supports NYGH’s overall strategic goals as it relates to: Decision Support/ Business Intelligence, Information Systems, Digital Health and Strategic Initiatives, in addition to providing broad direction and guidance to activities and programs in accordance with policies, goals, and objectives established by the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Engage leadership to achieve excellence, pursue quality initiatives and to lead the transformation and implementation of information management and digital health by enabling initiatives like health data standardization and cross-sector interoperability, virtual care, machine learning and artificial intelligence whose outcomes are aligned with NYGH’s strategic plan and mission.
- Lead the development and implementation of proactive and innovative strategies for assigned portfolio that aligns with the organization’s strategy.
- Provide guidance and counsel to SLT members for all assigned portfolio matters, ensuring consistency with applicable legislation, regulatory bodies and collective agreements.
- In partnership with other members of the Senior Leadership Team, participate in the development of an integrated patient care and strategic partnerships strategy for the Hospital that contributes to the development of the annual operating plan and budget and management of resources to ensure efficiencies and to minimize exposure to risk.
- Develop and implement a data governance and enterprise analytics strategy that will enable a broad and expanded scope and focus to monitor performance and inform decision making
- Ensure achievement of current and long-range goals.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with a broad range of external stakeholders, including ministries, regional health structures and authorities, regulatory bodies, academic institutions, the community, and others in the health care system to contribute, provide input and facilitate systemic change as it relates to developing and implementing system-level initiatives to advance integrated patient care.
