**The opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Provost Communications, the Communications Officer is a member of the Strategic Communications team. The Communications Officer supports the vision, mission and priorities of the University of Manitoba and the assigned group of partners made up from faculties and administrative units. The Communications Officer plays a vital role in promoting and building the reputation of the university, its faculties, units, departments, and senior administrators at the internal and local, regional and national level.

As a member of the SC team, Communications Officers focus on the communications needs of areas of strategic importance to their partner areas and the University of Manitoba.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing or other related specialization required.
- Four years of directly related partner management experience and experience in integrated marketing communications setting required.
- Experience in the area of digital communications is preferred.
- Experience with philanthropic organizations is an asset. - An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proven track record of successful strategic communications planning and implementation is required.
- Thorough knowledge of the procedures and techniques in the field of specialization required.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and a high level of creativity and problem-solving skills are required.
- Solid understanding of print and digital communications platforms and ability to leverage in an integrated way to meet identified goals and objectives is required.
- Exceptional leadership and relationship building skills are required.
- Strong project management skills are required.
- Must have strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize conflicting demands required.
- Must possess a high degree of independence, diplomacy and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to manage broad range of communications projects from concept to completion is required.
- A proven track record in working with all levels of staff, including senior administration, external stakeholders and others is an asset.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
