Camp YMCA Kanawana is Québec’s oldest residential summer camp, offering innovative programming and traditional YMCA values-based camping.

Camp YMCA Kanawana’s Hike and Trip program has the goal of providing safe and fun wilderness camping experiences while teaching skills and confidence to children and youth from all over the world. Camp YMCA Kanawana is located on a gorgeous 550-acre site in the Laurentians that includes three lakes and a network of wooded trails. Our expedition program sends children and youth on multi-day canoe trips on beautiful lakes and rivers in Ontario and Quebec. The Hike and Trip Director’s mandate will be to manage and supervise the staff within the section, ensure the safety and well-being of all staff and campers within the expedition umbrella, and oversee the logistics and execution of the program.

**WHAT CHALLENGES WILL YOU TACKLE?**
- Manage, supervise and support the staff in the section
- Ensure all activities are safe and respect the required safety measures and norms
- Respond to emergencies on trip and on camp when necessary
- Manage equipment/gear appropriately
- Manage all aspects of the supervision of participants in a safe context in terms of health and wellbeing
- Support staff with trip departures and arrivals
- Lead staff debriefs
- Create connections with and get to know campers in the section
- Execute and facilitate the proposed programming and staff training
- Ensure proper follow-up with team members, directors and coordinators
- Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures regarding the protection of children and vulnerable people

**WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR**:

- Has at least two years of experience in a management position in outdoor education in a day camp or wilderness class facilitation, or in a similar field (an asset)
- Is fluent in English and French (spoken)
- Is available to work a variable schedule, specifically in the evenings and weekends
- Has a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
- Has no criminal record in connection with employment
- Is available from June 3rd to August 21st

- **Be available**: Full-time (Mondays to Sundays from June 3rd to August 21st, 2024)

Le Camp YMCA Kanawana est le plus ancien camp d'été résidentiel du Québec, offrant une programmation innovante et des valeurs de camping traditionnelles basées sur le YMCA.

Le programme de randonnées et voyages du Camp YMCA Kanawana vise à offrir des expériences de camping en plein air sûres et amusantes tout en enseignant des compétences et de la confiance aux enfants et aux jeunes du monde entier. Situé sur un magnifique site de 550 acres dans les Laurentides comprenant trois lacs et un réseau de sentiers boisés, notre programme d'expédition envoie les enfants et les jeunes en voyages en canoë de plusieurs jours sur de magnifiques lacs et rivières en Ontario et au Québec. Le mandat du Directeur des Randonnées et Voyages sera de gérer et superviser le personnel de la section, garantir la sécurité et le bien-être de tout le personnel et des campeurs dans le cadre de l'expédition, et superviser la logistique et l'exécution du programme.

**QU'ALLEZ-VOUS ACCOMPLIR ?**
- Gérer, superviser et soutenir le personnel de la section
- Veiller à ce que toutes les activités soient sûres et respectent les mesures de sécurité et les normes requises
- Répondre aux urgences en voyage et au camp lorsque cela est nécessaire
- Gérer l'équipement/matériel de manière appropriée
- Assurer la supervision des participants dans un contexte sécuritaire en termes de santé et de bien-être
- Soutenir le personnel pour les départs et arrivées en voyage
- Animer les débriefings du personnel
