**WHAT IS THE JOB?**

Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Professional Practice, Standards and Development Department is hiring an engineering/geoscience student on contract for four months starting in May 2023.

Reporting to the Manager, Climate Change and Sustainability Initiatives (a professional engineer), this position will provide strategic support for the development of Professional Practice Guidelines (PPG) on Water System Risk Management which would provide the duties and obligations of registrants who contribute to, coordinate and manage water system risks. This position would also provide support for actions around providing advanced education and developing practice resources under the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Climate Change Action Plan.

The student hired through this opportunity would participate in the advisory group meetings and benefit from learning about steering complex projects and initiatives through collective decision-making. The student will work with the staff in organizing events and stakeholder engagement in relation to this project. The student will work in a hybrid work environment and will be exposed to the regulatory functions carried out by Engineers and Geoscientists BC. The intern will be required to engage in creative and critical thinking, technical analysis, and strategic problem-solving.

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**:
The Intern, Guideline Development (Water System Risk Management Planning) will assist the Manager, Climate Change and Sustainability, and the steering committee with the outreach and consultation regarding the development of Professional Practice Guidelines on Water System Risk Management Planning. During their term, the Intern will provide support for all aspects related to developing these guidelines, including:

- assembling, analyzing and interpreting data in relation to climate resiliency and enterprise risk management as it relates to the water sector,
- working with the steering committee and preparing project updates for PPG, and
- supporting outreach and consultation related to guideline development.

Further assignments will be provided to work on other areas of Climate Change Action Plan Implementation and in support of their career goals.

**WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?**
- 3rd or 4th-year student enrolled in a four-year college or university engineering or geoscience degree program at UBC, UVIC, SFU, or UNBC
- Eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC upon graduation
