We are seeking a Manager, Cybersecurity to join the Technology Services department at Edmonton Catholic Schools

In this position, you will be an integral member of the department's management team working to foster and support a common vision that aligns with the department and Division strategic plans. This primary focus is safeguarding the digital infrastructure, data, and systems of Edmonton Catholic Schools. Given the increasing reliance on technology in education, cybersecurity has become a critical concern to protect sensitive information, ensure the continuity of learning, and maintain a safe digital environment for students, teachers, and staff.

The job manages an evolving team of Cybersecurity Analysts responsible for monitoring, tracking, and coordinating activities to ensure appropriate measures are taken to remediate security vulnerabilities or threats.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead and evaluate cybersecurity staff, ensuring their professional growth, skill development, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage large projects and initiatives, including planning, recommending timelines, budgets, setting milestones and key deliverables.
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and best practices that govern the use of technology within Edmonton Catholic Schools.
- Regularly train staff, students, and faculty on cybersecurity awareness and safe digital practices.
- Communicate Division security risks and realities and provide advice and expertise using various means.
- Develop and maintain an incident response plan to effectively address and mitigate cyber incidents such as data breaches, malware attacks, and phishing attempts. This involves coordinating with relevant stakeholders and regulatory bodies as necessary.
- Provide management risk and security briefings to advise of critical issues that may affect users or organizational security objectives.
- Evaluate and manage third-party vendors that provide the school with software, hardware, or services. Ensure that these vendors adhere to appropriate security standards and practices.
- Actively seek to improve processes, products, and services by identifying opportunities where information technology may assist in problem resolution.
- Utilize security monitoring tools to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time. This includes monitoring network traffic, system logs, and user activity.
- Manage project financial resources by overseeing the contract process and managing expenditures within budget limits to accomplish objectives.
- Participate in technology committees to ensure the Division’s interests are represented.
- Lead the Patch and Vulnerability process to ensure systems are scanned and updated without disruption of services.
- Participate in the department management team, including short
- and long-term strategic planning.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in Edmonton Catholic's digital systems.
- Implement measures to address any identified risks and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain Security based development practices and participate in the evergreening of Division-wide security standards.
- Stay informed about relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards in the education sector.
- Prepare and submit necessary compliance reports as required.

**Qualifications**:

- CISSP or CISM certification plus a minimum of five years of directly related experience.
- ISO 27001 Certification and CSSLP are assets.
- Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect is an asset.
- Information Technology Governance Certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of Information Technology Security best practices
- Knowledge of IDS/IPS and other security monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of Information Technology Risk assessments creating and reporting.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices, human resource policies and procedures and Out of Scope Terms and Conditions.
- Knowledge of modern-day cyber threats.
- Knowledge of project management techniques; FOIP Legislation; e-records management; and system security standards.
- Knowledge of the educational environment and its unique technical requirements.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
