IT Helpdesk Technician

Acclaim Health is seeking one (1) IT Helpdesk Technician summer student to work for our IT Department. This is a Full Time position for a period of 8 weeks. As a Full Time student the individual will be expected to work 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm at our Speers Office location
**PRIMARY FUNCTIONS**:
- Provides first line response for users requiring assistance with IT issues (software, hardware, telecommunication, SAAS) via ticketing system including follow ups until resolution achieved
- Maintains user accounts including creating as per matrix, changing and deleting as requested
- Performs password resets, unlocks and changes for end users
- Maintains and supports desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and smart phones
- Assists with maintenance of servers, network equipment and other hardware (eg. SMART Boards)
- Ensures regular maintenance is provided for all office IT equipment.
- Ensures systems are kept up to date, in accordance with patch management policies.
- Supports remote access via VPN (Virtual Private Network)
- Provides first line support for company intranet.
- Assigns and distributes building access cards for staff and other assigned users
- Monitors and escalates alerts from antivirus and other IT security systems.
- Provides hardware training to staff.
- Performs other related duties associated with the department as requested by the Systems Administrator or Director, IT.
**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:
- Currently enrolled in, or have completed post-secondary education in an IT-related program
- Comfortable providing excellent customer service and support to a large remote employee base as well as onsite support to office staff at all levels.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently
- Experience with Microsoft Server Operating Systems; Active Directory & Networking.
- Experience with MS Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
- Experience supporting various Cloud/SaaS software platforms
- Knowledge and experience with telecommunications equipment
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and Insurance in accordance with the company policy.
- Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel within Halton Region
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada_
