Our Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager to oversee and implement maintenance projects designed to maintain and improve the standards of guest rooms, common areas and grounds.
**Responsibilities**:
- Establish goals, measurements and results for the department along with the Maintenance Manager.
- Involvement in the preparation of the Maintenance Operating and Capital budgets.
- Monitor and revise as needed, departmental health & safety tools including WCB and WHMIS training programs, policies and practices.
- Ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times and that all colleagues are committed to working safely.
- Effective and timely interaction with all Hotel departments to positively impact guest experience by effectively and efficiently troubleshoot and resolve maintenance concerns.
- Motivate, train and lead maintenance personnel by personal example with a philosophy of work conduct, enthusiasm and personal development that leads to maximum performance and job satisfaction.
- Organize, implement and track all maintenance projects for guestrooms and public areas.
- Assist will all aspects of scheduling and payroll throughout the Maintenance Department.
- General operational and preventative maintenance of systems including: Boilers and heating systems; Make up air and HVAC systems; Pool facilities; and General plumbing issues.
- Maintain hotel guest rooms and public areas by performing routine maintenance jobs and repairs.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing systems, electrical systems and appliances.
- Maintain the safety and upkeep of guest areas in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the property including the removal of snow and ice and other hazards.
- Maintain the integrity pools by ensuring a safe chemical balance through frequent testing.
- Additional duties may be assigned to help meet guest needs.
Skills and Experience
- Prior Maintenance Management and/or supervisory experience is an asset.
- Strong ability to lead, coach and build a successful team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
- Superior attention to details, time management, high quality environment.
- A Pool Operators Certificate and a background in electrical and /or plumbing is an asset.
- Task orientated and results driven.
